Latest from Aldriana on EJ forums:

Public service announcement:

As some of you may have heard (or not), in addition to the blanket haste nerf next patch, they also appear to be adding an internal cooldown to Dragonspine Trophy. Based on 15 min in Blasted Lands last night, said internal cooldown appears to be 20 seconds. So, if you're like me, you're probably wondering what this does to the value of the trinket.

And the answer is: it's still the best trinket in the game by a decent margin. I hacked a copy of the spreadsheet to model this, and I come up with the following valuations of trinkets (assuming my gear/spec):

Dragonspine Trophy: 238
Madness of the Betrayer: 176
Ashtongue Talisman: 170
Warp-Spring Coil: 156
Tsunami Talisman: 149

So, it's still pretty clearly the winner. Which, the way things have been going, probably means it's going to be nerfed some more. Personally, I'm hoping they bump the internal cooldown up to, oh, 45 sec or so and revert the haste nerf (which would still leave it as the best trinket in the game, but by a more reasonable margin).

Anyway, yeah. It's being nerfed, but it's still the best game in town.

As a side note, assuming Warglaives wind up with the same internal cooldown as Dragonspine (which, honestly, seems likely), I estimate that rogues will be topping out in the ballpark of 2100 DPS in long sustained fights.

Unless it gets hit again then I think it's still worth it to pop Gruul so the hunters and the rest of the rogues can get this.

Aye as I said last, the thing was overpowered if they can nerf it by 50% and still have it be the best in the game by a fair margin. I agree with the suggestion that the internal cooldown be upped more and melee haste be unnerfed. It's stupid that all melee haste is nerfed basically because of the trinket when you can just nerf the trinket.

Just like the mage trinket from Illhoof? ;)

SHHHH! The first rule of overpowered trinkets is that you do not talk about overpowered trinkets.

I think the mages would breathe a sigh of relief if the Lightning Capacitor was nerfed. They don't want to farm that shit lol. It does need to be nerfed though because the best trinket for a certain spec probably shouldn't come from a middle boss in Karazhan.

I guess on a higher level this is part of the problem with trinkets. The concept of a trinket is that it's supposed to be an "interesting" item, not just a set of stats. The problem is that these kinds of things are usually hard to balance and weird stuff will crop up as "overpowered" because it synergizes well with a certain class or spec.

The next leap would be, well maybe items like this should be "overpowered". There's usually only a handful of trinkets available over the entire scope of content and they're all usually pretty unique. So what if one of them happens to be awesome for one class or spec? If the trinkets didn't have a significant impact then they wouldn't fill up to the idea of a trinket, just another armor slot with some stats.

Is this a rogue commenting that the ashtongue trinket is > tsunami talisman?

WTB DST for tanking. Despite the nerf, it's still amazing for threat!

Yes, and it is actually.

I was swapping them in and out for a while, but I've pretty much decided from my own testing that the Ashtongue is superior.
