As you might have guessed with the title, haste rating values have been modified on PTR for both melees and casters, these changes were unnoticed until today (thanks Deify of Forte), they are not mentioned in 2.2 PTR patch notes.

Now for the new values, check below.

Haste Rating (melee)

Live: 10.5 haste rating for 1% haste
PTR: 15.7 haste rating for 1% haste

Therefore its a huge loss for melees; it might have been caused by certain items such as Azzinoth Set, Dragonspine Trophy and some others.

Spell Haste Rating (caster)

Unlike melee haste rating, casters gain a buff here, since the required amount of spell haste rating for 1% spell haste has been lowered from 21 to 15.7.

30 spell haste rating on live server makes the paladin flash of light from 1.5 to 1.48, on PTR is 1.47.

These changes make melees and casters equal in terms of value for 1% haste.

I think it's good that they evened it out.

Evening them out is fine. Spell haste still isn't as good as melee haste and the melee haste nerf is unnecessary.

Spell haste needs a +dmg component, or something else, added to it before it equals the benefits of melee haste, even in it's nerfed form.

It's not as good for DPS, it's easily as good for healers.

It's not the healers who are bitching about it. It's the caster dps, so I'm all for the changes on spell haste.

However, with them nerfing windfury, nerfing sword spec, and nerfing melee haste all at once, I think they are overreacting.

Its very possible that they are heavily overreacting to the "top possible" melee DPS.. with that said, its probably easier to nerf now then rebuff to where they want it to be than to deal with the bitching that would occur with extremely small but constant nerfs that it would take to safely nerf to the perfect point.

The problem is that there are people making decisions at Blizz in the dev group that have absolutely no clue on the proper testing methodologies.

You change ONE thing, test the fuck out of it, if that's not enough, you back out that change and change something else, then test the fuck out of it.

Sword spec change, wf change and melee haste change all at once is ill thought out, when anyone who's raided at our level as a melee can clearly see that the culprit is really Sword spec and it's interaction with windfury, both of which are in the process of being nerfed. Adding melee haste nerf on top of that is a stupid move and the melee will pay the price in the long run.
