Do you guys spec frost/imp blizzard so you can have water elemental and ranged frost nova for better guaranteed survivability for this or is it ok staying fire?

we only have 2 mages that raid and sometimes only 1 in raid and i was thinking i could squeeze by staying fire.

I know a lot of guilds use frost mages but you guys probably just go balls out fire and own right?

One mage goes full frost, the other goes frostfire with imp blizzard for backup.

Sorry to disappoint :).

At least one FFB mage for constant (reliable) snares on the Snaplasher is pretty crucial, and where FFB does it ok, Frost does it much better. The ranged nova for the Detonators is also really nice while learning.

Mages are pretty shit DPS on Freya in general, if you wanted to go balls out and brute force it, you'd be stacking hunters, not casters.

Warlocks and spriests do well too.

And elemental shaman are very good on roots particularly in P2.

Basically, yeah, anyone other than mages (and moonkin.)
