So I respec'd as Dreamstate for our recent Mother Shahraz and Council fights. I gained +133 healing and 50mp5, but I lost alot of abilities from the Resto talent tree and from not having Tree of Life. The one thing I missed the most while being Dreamstate was Swiftmend. I can't tell you how many times my hand was automatically reaching to where my Swiftmend hotkey used to be, lol.

On the plus side:
I was out of tree all the time so I could decurse, depoison and throw big heals if needed.
Also you will see above that I gained +133 Healing and 50mp5.

On the negative side:
No more tree of life, no more +125 healing for my group.
HoT Spells cost me 11% more mana without Tree form.
No Swiftmend.
I lost 20% heal bonus to HoTs without Tree form.
I lost 15% of my total spirit and about 40% crit chance on regowths.

Here are some quick numbers from recent fights if you want to see the differences between the two spec's:
(Sorry for the crappy format. It was a cut and past from WWS to notepad)

Dreamstate: 1972 +Healing, 8.79% Spell Crit, 428/222 mp 5
(Numbers from the Council Fight)
Ability...............Total.......%.......Hits.... Avg....Max....Dots...Avg....Max...Crits%...Avg.... .Max...Overheal%
Lifebloom.........707,511....49%....23....1759...1 774...2543...261....651......4%.....2661...2661... ....7%
Regrowth.........307,484....21%....66....2047...21 67....340....399....425....15%.....3044...3167.... ..19%
Rejuvenation....240,918....16%.................... ............316....762...1010......5%
Healing Touch...162,730....11%.....24....5409...5759...... .........................14%.....8222...8315...... ..3%

Tree Build: 1839 +Healing, 11.79% Spell Crit, 394/172 mp 5
(Numbers from the BT clear up to Mother)
Ability............Total.........%.......Hits...Av g.....Max...Dots....Avg...Max...Crits%...Avg....Ma x....Overheal%
Lifebloom....2,004,810....62%....90....1750....187 8...6207...307...1464....9%.....2629...2648.....14 %
Regrowth.......664,265....20%....46....2449....450 7...524.....503....923....64%....3511...6644.....3 6%
Rejuvenation...392,583...12%...................... .406....966...1850.............15%
Healing Touch...26,186.....0%.....5.....5237....5534...... ..........................0%
Swiftmend........41,594.....1%....24....3072....36 80...............................16%......5426...5 437.....32%

So overall IMHO, Tree of Life has more to offer the raid and I am going back to that spec.

Talent Build, just in case you were interested:
My Tree of Life build was 13 Feral (Tanking talents mostly) and 48 Resto.
My Dreamstate build was 33 Balance / 28 Resto.

I thought dreamstate was all about playing like a paladin, switching between ranks of HT and not really worrying about HoTs at all?

If I tried to downrank HTs and not use HoTs I think I would get sniped ALOT by our uber paladins and shaman. I mainly wanted to try out Dreamstate for the +mp5 on Mother. Fully raid buffed I probably had an extra +55mp5 so I could deal with Mother's mana burns and keep pumping out the heals to help keep the team alive.

It probably wasn't the best test of a Dreamstate build but I am glad I gave it a try to see what the differences are between it and Tree of Life.

Follow up to Barrels question here a version of dreamstate that i always though was viable

Go down into empowered touch so you can get some real nice HPS throughput on you Healing touch which in this build would be very much like that of a pallys current heal style masters of single target heals. Your healing touch is so amped by all you talents combined with downranking, 2 haste rings, and 2 armor hastes pieces and healing touch might just be competitive (Nature's Grace would help too). Though I haven't healed in wow in a good year so iam likely completely out of touch with reality :p

I should have a bit more time to play and I can try switching to a Dreamstate build full time and playing around if I get a ridealong spot on any farm content. I'm sure there has to be some benefit to it given the amount of druids that swear by it.

Yeah I'd prolly agree with the snipe thing. I don't think dreamstate HT would be that effective against full haste geared pallys :P

could be about the same stacking your own haste though :D

The only problem I had with the dreamstate build was getting all my HT's ninjad by paladins. The mp5 and +healing are so nasty that you can still use hots normally and throw out some healing touchs. I'd like to get some spell haste items and go back to it and see how it does. Have any of you tried it with some spell haste?

No, we haven't made the healing Druid type haste shoulders or bracers. We are getting the hearts to other classes who can benefit from the gear more. I am almost ALWAYS just pumping out instant HoTs or using Nature's Swiftness/Swiftmend. I can't justify myself getting healing haste rings and haste healing leather until everyone else has had thier gear first. ;P

But someday, maybe 2 monthes from now, I may be able to stack some +haste gear and play around again with a Dreamstate build. =)

Well, the thing about dreamstate is its a MT healing build, not a raid healing build.

Which is a complete role reversal from ToLs advantages.

Haste helps it alot, as does crit, and basically its spam HT on tank with rejuvs. Regrowth should never be cast out of ToL form imo, its just so mana inefficient.

Basically thats why it is so nice for mother, cause the MT takes insane amounts of damage and dreamstate pumps out big heals with insane Mp5 to help with the mana burn.

I agree with you 100% that ToL is more useful in the majority of BT/Hyjal.
