If Mavanas' simulator is anywhere near accurate, HAT may still be top spec after the patch. I personally hope this doesn't bear out in practice, I'd prefer to see mutilate or combat as tops.

At least the new HaT specs seem to have a modicum of rotation involved. The problem is still group stacking, as always. The requirement of that dps is at least 2 cp a second, meaning at least two top notch hunters and two other top classes. Going by his chart from a couple days ago:

We'd need our group to be Rogue, Hunter x2 (or x3), then two (or 1) of: Ele sham, Fury war, Arcane Mage (which I heard isn't that great for 3.1 anyway, correct me if I'm mistaken), Moonkin, Holy Pally, Enh Shaman, Blood DK, or Bear Druid.

The problem I see is that rogues don't synergize with their own best dps spec. All our specs are at the bottom of the barrel for proccing HaT combo points, meaning that at most you can get 1 HaT rogue in a raid for exceptional dps. If you bring two, how much does that exceptional dps dip by?

Edit: A few other notes: First, any time your group has three rogues, it appears the cp/s rates will be low enough that both rogues that would be HaT would be better off as Mutilate for more consistency (HaT can vary with RNG by up to 800 dps according to simulation averages). This could be adjusted by just moving one of your raid's rogues with a bear tank/arcane mage/boomkin etc, and upholds only using one rogue as HaT, else his (extremely variable) dps would be only as good as if he were mutilate.

Also, I'm kind of unsatisfied with the amount of parses we have for cp/s rates on classes. There aren't even 20 of each spec, as far as I've seen. This makes me feel that the parses that we do have (especially for some of the even more minor specs) could have extremely high RNG variance for the recorded cp/s rates. I'd like to see this nailed down more so we can all get a better feel for where HaT is and how to maximize its potential.

Thats why it works perfectly if you have 2 rogues. 1 rogue specs into HaT while the other goes Combat and picks up Savage combat since arms warriors dont exist anymore :P Just gotta make sure you stay on your guilds good side so they dont give you prot warriors and aff locks to be mean

Arms may be the top warrior dps spec in 3.1 though (I'm not totally up on the warrior mechanics, but Oarc and Bazz have been chatting about them some) so the combat rogue issue may be moot.

Regardless, if HAT is ahead of the other specs by 1 - 1.5k then I'm going to be extremely disappointed. Even with the changes and it gaining a "rotation" of sorts the points Almahym raises are valid...your group composition has a primary effect on your dps output. This is a model they've been trying to go away from with all the classes, and I highly doubt they want this disparity to exist for us. We'll have to wait and see if they tweak it further.

Incidentally, the current HAT has a rotation of sorts. You can do pretty good dps just keeping up snd and spamming evisc, but working in ruptures and intelligent use of hemo in a psuedo rotation now can make a significant difference in your dps.
