View Full Version : Math and weapon procs...mmmmmm

Looking at the stats page it appears the Heartrazor has an approximate proc rate of 1.5% per swing. I thought that being mutilate would increase the proc, and I still need more data with it under a combat build, but here's the math:

Mutilate build - 5003 swings / 2 (I only have one, and those swings are from both hands) = 2501.5 offhand swings. That night it procced 34 times.

34/2501 = .0135 or 1.35%

Combat Dagger build - (smaller sample size may skew results) 1464 swings /2 = 732 offhand. 11 Heartrazor procs.

11/732 = 0.0150 or 1.50%

It's probably on a proc per minute rate, rather than a straight % per swing. I also need more data with combat daggers but it appears that mutilate and the extra offhand swings did not increase the proc rate.

Using the data from last night from the web stats page:

6418 melee hits + 4170 melee crits = 11,128 total hits for both hands
11,128 / 2 = 5564 offhand melee hits
124 Heartrazor procs / 5564 offhand melee hits = .0222861 * 100 = 2.22% proc rate

Not sure why this is slightly higher than what I saw before, other than this is significantly more data than what I had to work with initially, so I'm inclined to say that this is a more accurate proc rate.

Unless, of course, I'm not thinking straight and my math is bad. :)

I think we can definitely say that mutilate and the extra hits from the offhand do not increase the proc rate on this weapon. Since combat is the better pve spec, there is absolutely no reason to think that you could do comparable damage with a mutilate spec since it seems to proc less per swing (including mutilate hits) with that build than it does in a combat potency build.
